 Sheriff's Office Warns Residents
about Telephone Scam

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a current telephone phishing scam. Scammers are masking their caller ID information with the Sheriff’s Office main line, 318.329.1200. Once the phone is answered, the scammer tells the victim they are being investigated for credit card fraud and they must give personal and credit card information or a warrant will be issued for their arrest.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office will never call to request this information. If you receive any phone calls with someone asking for any of your personal information or credit card information, Please DO NOT give out any information and call 318.329.1200 to report it.

    Tips to protect yourself:

  • Don't assume that the information displayed on your phone is accurate, any phone number can be masked.
  • Never give out personal or financial information over the phone unless you know EXACTLY whom you are dealing with.
  • If you have doubts about who's on the phone, call the Company's main number rather than talking to the person who calls you.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the 2012 Cadet Academy, C.S.I. Workshop, and Teen Academy. The Academies are one week summer programs that are designed to provide working knowledge and background of the Law Enforcement Agencies. Teen Academy graduates will receive certifications in C.P.R. and the Ropes confidence course. This year we have added one C.S.I. 2-day Workshop for Teens. All Classes are FREE to qualified applicants.

    PRESS RELEASE (March 22, 2012 @4:00pm) --- Suspects Arrested
    Armed Robbers Identified

    On March 21, 2012, Bastrop Police investigated an armed robbery of a business in their jurisdiction. Manuel Barajas Jr (DOB: 01/20/1991) and Raul Castro (DOB: 01/07/1993) were eventually arrested for this incident after a vehicle pursuit from Bastrop ended in Monroe. Investigators from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office had the opportunity to interview the suspects.  The investigators were able to secure testimonies linking Castro and Barajas to the armed robbery at the Dollar General on Arkansas Road in West Monroe on March 16, 2012.

    On this date, arrest warrants for armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery were issued for Castro and Barajas. Bond has been set to 150,000.00 for each suspect.

    PRESS RELEASE (Feb 22, 2012 @ 5:21pm) --- Residential Burglary in Calhoun, LA.








    THE OUACHITA PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS ASKING FOR YOUR HELP!

    A residence burglary occurred at 605 E. Arkansas Rd., Calhoun, LA on February 9, 2012. Jewelry, cash, coins and two small safes valued at several thousand dollars were stolen.
