Suspect arrested in Theft by Shoplifting Investigation

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported theft by shoplifting at the J-Mart on Arkansas Road January 26, 2018.  The suspect allegedly entered the business, took several bottles of liquor and then left the business in an unknown direction of travel.

Ouachita Sheriff’s Investigators were able to identify the suspect using surveillance footage at the business.  Alric D. Vanburen, age 40 of Monroe, has been arrested in connection with the theft.  Vanburen was also the suspect in three prior shoplifting cases and has been charged in connection with those also.  Vanburen is currently being held at OCC on 3 cts. of Theft of goods/shoplifting and 1 ct. Felony Theft of goods/shoplifting.  The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
