Suspect Arrested in Armed Robbery Investigation

The investigation into the armed robbery of the Dollar General in Swartz on August 29, 2018 has led to the issuance of warrants for one of the suspects.  Steward E. Kelly, Jr. of Monroe has been charged by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office with one count of Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and one count of Child Desertion stemming from the Ouachita Parish robbery.

During this investigation, it was determined Kelly was also allegedly involved in an armed robbery in Rayville and is currently incarcerated there, charged with one count of Armed Robbery.  Detainers have been placed on him for the OPSO warrant charges.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, Rayville Police Department, Monroe Police Department and the Louisiana State Police.

The investigation is continuing.
