Sterlington Drug Dealer Targeted by SCAT

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT) conducted investigations of illegal drug activity in Sterlington on July 23, 2019.

The efforts resulted in the arrest of Patrick Newsome, age 40 of Sterlington on the listed charges.  Newsome was booked into OCC.

Deputies seized the following:

Marijuana                           448 grams

Ecstasy                                  3 units

Crack Cocaine                       11 grams

Methamphetamine                 13 grams

Assorted Pills                         72

Larry Thompson of Bastrop was arrested on a Failure to Appear Warrant for Attempted Possession of Marijuana.

These type investigations are conducted regularly.  SCAT conducts high intensity patrol in problem areas-targeting drug dealers, gang activity, prostitution, and other felony crimes in progress.
