Sheriff Jay Russell Offers Tips to Avoid Contractor Fraud

Ouachita residents are beginning to repair flood damage to their home in many areas. Sheriff Jay Russell would like to remind citizens to be cautious when hiring contractors for these repairs. Sheriff Russell recommends that you check that an individual or company is:
1. Licensed, insured and bonded.
2. Ask for a detailed written quote for the cost of labor and materials.
3. Get at least 3 bids for the job.
4. Be extra cautious of unsolicited contact with individuals wanting to do repairs or other services.
