SCAT Seizes Vehicle and $55,000 in Cash

On the evening of 7/24/2012 Sergeant Dupree of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office SCAT Team observed a 2003 Ford Explorer commit a traffic offense and proceeded to initiated a traffic stop. Sgt. Dupree then made contact with and observed a male and female occupant to be acting nervously. Deputy Thompson performed an open air sniff with his K-9 Rocky at which time the K-9 alerted to the odor of narcotics at the vehicle.

The vehicle was then transported to the mechanic shop at the Ouachita Correctional Center where deputies thoroughly searched the vehicle. During the investigation, deputies found $55,000 in cash hidden inside of the gas tank of the vehicle.
