Ouachita Sheriff’s Investigators Arrest Theft Suspect

PressReleaseOn November 29, 2016, OPSO Deputies investigated a theft of an air compressor, an electric motor and other items from a residence in west Ouachita Parish.

On December 1, an OPSO patrol deputy observed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle used in the theft, based on photos from a surveillance camera.  Upon stopping the vehicle and interviewing the driver, it was determined the driver matched the description of the suspect as well.  Further investigation revealed the driver, Melvin Griffin, Jr., age 37, of West Monroe, was allegedly responsible for the theft and was also found to be in possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.  Griffin was arrested and booked in OCC on 1 ct. of Simple Theft and 1 ct. of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.  The investigation is continuing.
