OPSO Seizes 22lbs of Cocaine
On the morning of 9/4/12 at approximately 2:24am, Corporal Smith of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office observed a 2005 Dodge Durango commit a traffic offense and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle was occupied by two adults and one juvenile. After making contact with the driver, the deputy learned that the driver had no driver’s license and was also hesitant in answering questions. The driver gave consent to search the vehicle.
During the search of the vehicle, two pairs of jogging pants were located in the cargo area and were found to be stuffed with packages. Upon further investigation, the packages found appeared to contain 22 pounds of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of one million dollars.
The two adults were charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II, Illegal use of CDS in the presence of persons under 17, and Conspiracy to distribute CDS.
