OPSO SCAT Marijuana Bust

On 7/4/12, Dy. Cody Custer and Dy. Scott Bullock of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office SCAT Team (Special Crimes Apprehension Team) arrested two suspects from a traffic stop on Interstate 20 East bound about the 101 Exit.

The deputies observed the suspect’s vehicle commit a traffic offense and initiated a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, they observed the driver, Jonathan Broadway, to act very nervous and they suspected that other criminal activity was in progress. Due to the subsequent investigation, they discovered that the driver was transporting over 31 pounds of suspected marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle. Jonathan Broadway was arrested for Possession with Intent to Distribute, Conspiracy to Distribute, and Possession of CDS in the Presence of a Minor.

Further investigation revealed that Dontrell Broadway was a co-conspirator in this drug smuggling case and he was arrested at a residence located on Curve Drive in Monroe for Conspiracy to Distribute.
