OPSO SCAT Bust on I-20

On 7/13/13 the OPSO Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT) conducted a traffic stop on I-20 on a Lexus SUV while working criminal patrol. The investigation into this stop revealed the violator was in possession of over 5 pounds of high grade marijuana, over $1,300 in cash, as well as a Taurus .22 pistol.

A subsequent investigation found the Lexus SUV to not only be stolen, but it had also been taken during an armed carjacking in Jackson, MS. Authorities in Jackson confirmed the suspect we arrested was also their suspect in the carjacking and possibly used the Taurus pistol during the incident.

Kedrick Shamane Carter, 35yo black male from Vicksburg, MS, was transported to the Ouachita Correctional Center and booked for Possession of CDS Schedule I with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS, Conspiracy to Distribute CDS, and Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle with bond totalling $47,500.
