OPSO Receives Donation for Child Trauma Victims

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Deputies frequently face situations where young children have to cope with a traumatic event.  It might involve a car accident, the death or serious injury of a family member, domestic violence, or possibly the child is a victim.  Earlier this evening, the West Monroe Moose Lodge 1723 donated Tommy Moose Dolls through their Tommy Moose Program to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office to help when this occurs.

Deputies in the Patrol and Investigative Divisions will give the dolls to children they encounter in these type situations to help them cope with the tragedy in their lives.  The gift of one of these to a child helps comfort them and builds trust between them and the deputy.
