OPSO Range to Host Civilian Marksmanship Program Match
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Public Rifle Range will be hosting a Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) rifle match on December 12, 2015 at the range. The match begins with a required safety/sign-in course at 7:00 a.m., with the first relay scheduled for 9:30 a.m. The safety orientation is required to compete. All shooters are required to bring a notarized Eligibility Affidavit and Liability Agreement Form (a copy can be printed from the thecmp.org website online). Shooters are required to furnish their own rifle, either vintage or modern military type, and can only enter one. Rifles are to be equipped with open sights only and cannot have any accuracy work done to the rifle. The course requires 35 rounds of ammunition (supplied by the competitor) and consists of 5 rounds for sight fire, 10 rounds slow fire prone, 10 rounds rapid fire from standing to prone, and 10 rounds slow fire standing. The match registration fee is $15.00 and the match is limited to 32 shooters.
