OPSO Offers Church Security Course

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office will be offering a Church Security Course Saturday, February 8, 2020. The course will be held at the Sheriff’s Office Public Range in the North Delta Training Academy Building located at 258 Sheriff Richard Fewell Rd. in West Monroe. Class hours will be from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m.

This course is for Houses of Worship located in Ouachita Parish only and is free of charge.

This course will discuss the use of Deadly Force, security team selection and organization, equipment, and related topics. Demonstrations on how to practice with your firearm will be given also.

This course is for Church Security Team Members who already have a current Louisiana Concealed Carry Permit and is a security team member at their respective place of worship.

Pre-registration is required and the application can be downloaded by clicking the link below. A letter from the Pastor, Priest, Bishop, or leader of worship must accompany with the application stating you are an authorized member of the Place of Worship’s Security Team. If multiple team members from one Place of Worship will be attending then one letter indicating all of the team member names will suffice. It is recommended that Pastors or other Worship Leaders attend so they can gain the knowledge offered by this course.

Application deadline is February 4th. Applications can be emailed to NDTA@opso.net or dropped off at the class location between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

No weapons or ammunition will be needed for this course. Please leave your weapons in your vehicle.
