OPSO Mourns the Loss of Retired Major Don Wheelis

Major Wheelis began his career with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1983 as a Correctional Deputy at the Ouachita Correctional Center. He retired as a Major at OCC in 2009 with a total of 22 years of service.

Major Wheelis is remembered by those who knew and worked with him as a good friend and a loyal, dedicated deputy for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18^th 2019 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. Visitation will be at the Mulhearn Chapel Friday, May 17^th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
