OPSO Investigators Arrest Suspect in Robbery of a Blind Victim

PressReleaseOn September 11, 2015, Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported robbery on Bernstein Park Drive in Monroe. The subsequent investigation has resulted in the arrest of Jamion Hill, age 17 of Monroe. The victim, who was blind, was walking on Bernstein Park drive when the suspect confronted him and allegedly robbed the victim of his cell phone and then apparently fled on foot. The victim was able to recognize the suspect’s voice as sounding the same as the voice of an unidentified person he had spoken with in a convenience store earlier. The surveillance camera video of that convenience store conversation was obtained by Ouachita Sheriff’s Investigators for review. Based on this and other evidence, the suspect was identified and arrested on the charge of 1 count of Simple Robbery.

Evidence gathered during this investigation also indicated the suspect, Hill, had allegedly attempted to rob another victim at gunpoint on July 3rd, 2015. Hill was charged with an additional charge of Attempted Armed Robbery stemming from that incident. Hill is currently booked in OCC.
