OPSO Dive Team Completes Certification Training
As part of their continuing training, members of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office recently completed training courses certifying them as PADI Advanced and Rescue Divers.
The training was conducted by Bayou Divers, a PADI 5 Star IDC Center in West Monroe, LA. The Advanced Diver Course better prepares these highly skilled individuals for diving at night and improves their navigational capabilities for various search and recovery operations.
The Rescue Diver course teaches accident prevention but prepares these divers to recover victims from the water and provide life support assistance until medical teams arrive on the scene. The four man dive team of OPSO deputies is utilized in drowning incidents as well as evidence and property recovery from waterways in Ouachita Parish. OPSO also assists other agencies needing div
ing assistance.
