OPSO Conducts Training at Woodlawn Elementary

On Friday, Dec. 9th, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted active shooter training at Woodlawn Elementary and Junior High Schools in West Monroe.  Teachers and School Board personnel were present to learn more about what to expect and what to do should this type situation arise.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office works closely with the Ouachita Parish School Board and school administrators to be prepared in the event of a critical incident, including policies and planning, coupled with live training exercises. We wish to thank all of the school staff and employees for their efforts.

“We conduct this type training hoping that we never have to use it, but to ensure that if it does happen, we have response plans in place so that our Deputies and school personnel are prepared”-Sheriff Jay Russell.
