OPSO Arrests Suspect During Commission of a Burglary

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a burglary in progress complaint this afternoon on Washington Street in West Monroe. Upon searching the location, deputies located the suspect during the commission of the crime, hiding inside the residence.

Drake Anthony King, age 38, of West Monroe, was taken into custody.  Additional investigation by Sheriff’s Investigators has led to King being linked to other crimes in the same area.  Several stolen items have been recovered.  King is currently being booked in OCC on 1 ct. of Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, 1 ct. of Simple Burglary and 1 ct. of Simple Theft.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.

Sheriff Jay Russell commended the work by the Patrol and Investigative Division for their quick response and work leading to the arrest.
