OPSO Arrests Origin Bank Armed Robbery Suspect
Ouachita Sheriff’s Investigators have charged Purvis Lamar Williams, age 27, of Monroe, in connection with the armed robbery of Origin Bank, 5084 Cypress Street in West Monroe at 10:15 a.m. today. The robbery investigation determined the suspect entered the bank, indicated he was armed and demanded cash. He took an undetermined amount of cash and fled the bank. A partial description of a possible suspect vehicle was obtained and broadcast to local law enforcement agencies. A short time later, a Richwood PD officer observed a vehicle closely matching the description of the suspect vehicle on Burg Jones Lane in Monroe. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Williams, was detained by Richwood PD and Ouachita Parish Deputies. Further investigation led to Williams being charged with the armed robbery and the money taken was recovered. Williams is currently booked in OCC on the charge. The investigation is continuing.
