Sheriff’s Office Mourns Loss of Retired Deputy
Sheriff Jay Russell sadly announced the passing of retired Deputy Sheriff Edit “Nan” Ritter. Deputy Ritter began her career at the Ouachita Sheriff’s Office in 1996 in the Investigative Division. During her career, she later worked at the Ouachita Correctional Center and Work Release Center prior to her retiring in June 2011, completing 15 years of service. Deputy Ritter was a graduate of the North Delta Police Academy in 1998 and recognized as an outstanding volunteer for United Way in 1997. She also served as President of the Louisiana Forgery Investigator Association. Prior to her service at the Ouachita Sheriff’s Office, she was a fraud investigator for Central Bank and later a legal secretary for the Ouachita District Attorney’s Office. Funeral Services will be held at Kilpatrick’s Funeral Home in West Monroe on Thursday, September 11th at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, September 10th from 6:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sheriff Russell and Deputies would like to extend condolences to the family and friends as we keep them in our prayers during this difficult time.
