On the morning of 10/3/12 at approximately 2:03am, Corporal Smith of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office observed a 2012 Dodge Challenger bearing a Florida license plate to be traveling 71 MPH in a 60 MPH zone and initiated a traffic stop on I-20 East at Downing Pines. The vehicle was occupied by two adult males and one adult female. Upon making contact with the driver, Cpl Smith detected a strong odor associated with marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle.
A consensual search of the vehicle revealed one small bag of suspected CDS in the rear passenger door handle. While searching the trunk area, a diaper box was found that appeared to have been resealed. Deputy Ken Russ deployed his K-9, Tomec, who gave a positive alert in the trunk area where the box was located.
After opening the box of diapers, three vacuum sealed, gallon-sized bags were found and appeared to contain suspected marijuana.
