OPSO Offers Free Gun Locks to Local Gun Owners
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is now offering free gun locks to gun owners in Ouachita Parish. “We have seen an increase in gun sales during the holiday season and in the number of people enrolling in Concealed Carry Classes”, said Sheriff Jay Russell. “One of the key areas included in our Concealed Carry class covers both gun safety and the responsibility of gun ownership”, he added. In an effort to help gun owners safely secure the weapons at home in the presence of children, the Sheriff’s Office has joined with Project ChildSafe to make available free gun locks to local gun owners. The gun locks are available at the Ouachita Parish Rifle Range, 357 Sheriff Richard Fewell Road in West Monroe. Anyone interested in obtaining a lock can pick them up during the normal business hours of the range Wednesday through Sunday. Limit three locks per family while quantities last.
