			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>UPDATE: The suspect in the stabbing from Saturday at the Ashford Place Apartments in West Monroe has been identified. An arrest warrant for Wundria “Tigia” Von Byrd, 41yo, of South Carolina, has been secured for one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder. It is believed that Byrd has fled the area and possibly returning to her home state. Bond has been set at $1,000,000.00.</p>
<p>The victim of the attack is in a local hospital and is listed in serious condition. Evidence indicates that the attack is not random and was directed specifically at the victim.</p>

<p>On 6/15/13 at approximately 9:30p, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff&#8217;s Office was dispatched to Ashford Place Apartments in reference to a stabbing.  An investigation revealed that a black female entered the apartment and stabbed another black female several times.</p>
<p>The suspect fled the scene prior to OPSO&#8217;s arrival and has not yet been located.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On 5/11/13 the Ouachita Parish Sheriff&#8217;s Office SCAT team was monitoring traffic on Interstate 20 looking for illegal activity. Deputies stopped an Econoline van driven by John Rew of Oklawaha, FL for a traffic violation. A search of the vehicle was conducted resulting in the seizure of 382 pounds of packaged high grade Marijuana concealed in a compartment within the van.</p>
<p>A subsequent investigation revealed that Rew was transporting this Marijuana from Arizona to southern Florida. Metro Narcotics is continuing the drug investigation.</p>
<p>Rew was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center for Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute with bond set at $300,000.00.</p>
<p>Sheriff Jay Russell would like to commend these deputies on a job well done.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Buy Bust Operation</h3>
<p>The Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT) conducted buy bust operations in Ouachita Parish on May 16th and 17th 2013. This operation was conducted with the assistance of the State Police the State Probation and Parole Office as well as the Local FBI Task Force.</p>
<p>During the operation undercover officers attempted to purchase street level narcotics in Ouachita Parish.  Once a deal was made, an arrest team took the suspects into custody. The operation resulted in 19 arrests.</p>
<h3>Search Warrant Executed on Delwood Dr in Monroe</h3>
<p>The Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT) conducted a search warrant at 109 Delwood Dr. in Monroe, LA on 5/20/13. This warrant resulted in the arrest of a major Marijuana dealer named Anthony Edward Jordan. During this search, deputies located and seized numerous vehicles, cash, 1/2 lbs. of Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Jordan was also in possession of a stolen firearm that was taken in a burglary on Garrett Rd.</p>
<p>Jordan was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Felony Possession of a Weapon, Illegal Carry of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with bond totaling $100,500.00</p>

<p>UPDATE:  The standoff has ended after deputies entered the residence and found the suspect with a self-inflicted gun shot wound.  The suspect has been transported to a local hospital for treatment and his condition is unknown at this time.</p>
<p>Suspect is identified as Gary W. Covington of 1115 Wallace Dean Rd., West Monroe, LA</p>
<p></strong></p>
<p>The Ouachita Parish Sheriff&#8217;s Office is on scene in 1100blk of Wallace Dean in West Monroe with a barricaded suspect.  Chief Mashaw said that deputies were called to the residence in reference to a possible suicidal subject.  Upon arrival, the suspect fired shots at the deputies resulting in a current standoff.</p>
<p>As a precaution, the surrounding area has been evacuated, however, the scene is secured.</p>
<p>OPSO is still on scene at this time working to resolve the situation safely.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On the morning of 5/18/13, deputies were dispatched to the 700blk of Tulip St in West Monroe in reference to a welfare complaint. Upon arrival, a female victim was located with bruising on her entire face. The victim indicated her husband, Steve Bailey was responsible.</p>
<p>Deputies attempted to detain the suspect and he resisted to the extreme. During the altercation he attempted to gain control of a deputy&#8217;s firearm and TASER but was unsuccessful. Once in custody, he eluded deputies once more and fled on foot. Bailey was apprehended a short distance from the scene and transported to the Ouachita Correctional Center.</p>
<p>The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for numerous broken ribs, vertebra and other bones. Her entire body was covered in bruises of various sizes and shapes. She also suffered from a collapsed lung. The victim advised the beatings have been ongoing for three days as the suspect would not allow her to leave. The suspect used various items including a claw hammer, a baseball bat, his hands and feet.</p>
<p>Warrants for the suspect were obtained for Aggravated Kidnapping (dv)no bond, Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery (dv) no bond, Attempted Disarming of a Police Officer bond $50,000, two counts of Battery on a Police Officer bond $25,000 each, Resisting an Officer bond $15,000, Simple Escape bond $10,000 and two counts of Damage to Property bond $5,000 each.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Shortly after 2am on 5/16/13, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff&#8217;s Office was called to the 4400blk of Hadley Street in Monroe in reference to a shooting. Deputies contacted a witness who stated he observed a female victim lying in the roadway bleeding heavily from both legs.</p>
<p>Deputies learned from the victim that she had been picked up by a known person at a club in the Booker T area of Monroe. The suspect, identified as Marlo Migal Hines, 40yo of 19 Fair Oaks Drive, Monroe, then took her to an unknown location where he forced her to have sex with him. The victim stated that Hines then drove her to Hadley Street where he forced her to exit the vehicle. Hines then shot the victim in both legs and left her in the roadway.</p>
<p>With the help of the Monroe Police Department, Hines was located and taken into custody. Investigators secured arrest warrants for Hines and he was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center for one count of Forcible Rape and one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder with total bond set at $250,000.</p>
<p>The victim is being treated at a local hospital and is in stable condition.</p>
