Sheriff Jay Russell invites you to attend the first Ouachita Parish Citizens Academy which will begin Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 6:00p.
The Citizens Police Academy is an 8 week program designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Sheriff’s Office. The academy consists of eight weekly night classes at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office facilities. Each week instruction will be given in separate areas of the Sheriff’s Office. All classes are free of charge and each class is limited to 24 citizen attendees.
Examples of the topics to be covered are Homicide Investigations, Narcotics Enforcement, S.W.A.T., Crime Scene Investigations, Recruiting, and meeting the Sheriff. Instruction will consist of lectures, demonstrations, and facility tours.
If you wish to attend, please fill out the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy Application and turn in to the Sheriff’s Office at 400 Saint John Street, Monroe, LA no later than August 2, 2013.
