Captain Larry Knight Selected as OPSO Deputy of the Year

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Captain Larry Knight has been selected as the Deputy of the Year by the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce.  Captain Knight is a 27 year veteran of OPSO and currently serves as a Patrol shift supervisor and as Commander of the S.W.A.T. Unit.

Captain Knight began his career in corrections at OCC in 1992.  He transferred to Patrol in 1994. Because of his ability and work ethic, he worked his way through the ranks quickly.  In addition to his Patrol duty, he has also worked in the Felony Warrants Division, the Investigative Division, and the Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT). He has attended numerous training classes and has received many letters of commendations from both citizens and supervisors within the Sheriff’s Office.

“Captain Knight is a fine example of what a professional, dedicated law enforcement officer should strive to be” says Sheriff Jay Russell. “He recognizes the importance of leading by example and is very well respected in the community and by the deputies of this department.”
