E-mails and text messages are being circulated in the area that state that a gang initiation requires the killing of a white female and that the gang is targeting the Pecanland Mall.

After contacting all of the surrounding law enforcement agencies, OPSO has concluded that the contents of these e-mails and text messages are just rumors and that there are no gangs targeting the people at the Pecanland Mall. These text messages and e-mails seem to be stemming from the recent incident in which Raymond Hodges was arrested in the Pecanland Mall parking lot after shooting several people on U.S. Highway 165.

The scare today at the Ouachita Parish High School stemmed from similar text messages and e-mails. OPSO was never able to confirm that anyone was going to stage an attack at the school. No one was ever seen with a gun nor were there ever any shots fired at the school.
